Purcell, Henry

Henry Purcell(1659-1695), English composer, as a boy he was a chorister in the Chapel Royal, and studied music at the church, appointed as organist of the Westminister Chapel and later at the Chapel Royal. He is one of the greatest of all English composers and an outstanding figure of the Baroque period. He composed operas, semi-operas(stage works) and songs.
